ISU Poultry Research and Teaching Farm
Description
Henning Companies completed the construction of Iowa State University’s Robert T. Hamilton Poultry Research and Teaching Farm in March of 2020. The poultry farm will provide education and research on poultry housing systems, nutrition and food safety, genetics, health and welfare, and environmental issues including waste management. The poultry farm also includes a welcome and viewing area where visitors can see examples and learn about egg production in the state of Iowa.
The approximately 26,000 sq ft. facility was solely funded through private donations. The poultry farm is named after Robert T. Hamilton, who was known as a pioneer in the modern layer industry and built a successful poultry and hog operation in Northern Iowa.
